Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Provide an efficient and effective HR advisory service to Support and Operational areas across the UK.
  • Provide advice and guidance on employment issues in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures and current employment law.
  • Manage a wide range of employee relations issues such as discipline, grievance, capability and absence, carrying out employee relations investigations and note-taking support across all BUs, working with line managers and escalating when appropriate.
  • Conduct exit interviews and compile detailed analysis of data.
  • Suggest and implement policy changes based on up to date legislation.
  • Assist managers with management referrals to Occupational Health.
  • Provide guidance to line managers to enable them to effectively manage their teams independently.
  • Work with the in-region Recruitment Manager to maximise the effectiveness of the recruitment process, including management of the applicant tracking system, liaison with agencies and candidates, and assisting line managers with selection and interviewing of candidates.
  • Work with other HR Advisors to take responsibility for the starter process including drafting, issuing and tracking all relevant contract and onboarding materials.
  • Work with line managers to positively influence the onboarding process for new employees.

Competencies:

  • Experience of unionised environments and actively being involved with them under the guidance of more senior HR representation.
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication both written and verbal.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and the implications on the business.
  • Experience of delivering advice on legislation compliance and best practice.
  • Proven track record of managing a wide range of case work, seeking guidance and referring to more senior HR team members as appropriate.
  • Proven ability to provide a customer focused service.
  • Able to work as a team player and ability to use own initiative.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrates ownership and accountability for tasking, and is flexible and adaptable towards the needs of the role.
  • Able to manage own workload, prioritising when necessary and giving visibility of activities and challenges to more senior HR team members.
  • Demonstrable experience of dealing with a wide range of stakeholders and providing detailed and complex information and advice.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and HR databases.
  • Experience of recruitment procedures and interviewing.
  • Demonstration of strong influencing skills.

Organisational Relationships:

  • Supporting the leadership team on a request basis.
  • Assisting HR team and project team members as assigned.
  • Liaising with staff in other departments.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Professional Qualifications/Education and Training:

  • Extended experience of working within a similar environment within an HR capacity.
  • Level 5 CIPD qualification or equivalent.
  • Capability to progress further with professional education.
  • Experience of working in a complex organisation with a track record of delivering confidently and to agreed time scales to multiple stakeholders.

Please note that due to the nature of the role, this is a full-time work locations based role.
