Standard 8 represents a Manchester based business looking for an IT Support Engineer who can handle the real-world support stuff properly. Not just password resets and ticket shuffling. This is a hands-on first and second-line role covering users, kit, printers, Microsoft 365, Windows devices and the usual mix of “this worked yesterday” problems.

You’ll be the first port of call for people across the business when technology gets in the way of doing their job. Some issues will be quick fixes. Some will need proper investigation. Either way, you’ll be expected to own the problem, communicate clearly, and get things moving.

We’re looking for someone with at least a year in an IT support role, ideally in a business where you’ve had to think for yourself rather than follow scripts all day. You’ll need:

  • Windows and Microsoft 365
  • Active Directory / Group Policy
  • DNS, networking basics, authentication and PC/laptop hardware

You don’t need to know everything. You do need to be curious, reliable, calm under pressure, and good with people who may not speak fluent IT. Desirable ITIL, Microsoft 365 certifications would be useful, but they’re not deal-breakers. Practical ability matters more than badges.
