Standard 8 is partnering with a heavily regulated, engineering-led business looking for someone to take full ownership of its data platform and reporting estate. This is a hands-on role. You’ll sit across engineering, modelling and reporting — building a platform that actually works, not just looks good in a demo.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own Microsoft Fabric end-to-end (Warehouse + Lakehouse)
  • Build and manage data pipelines via Azure Data Factory / Fabric
  • Keep data flowing cleanly from source systems (including SAP environments)
  • Set standards for storage, performance and platform reliability
  • Run the reporting environment properly — workspaces, deployments, capacity
  • Design robust Power BI semantic models (clean logic, reusable, fast)
  • Deliver dashboards, paginated reports and apps people rely on
  • Make reporting usable on mobile for operational teams
  • Create “golden datasets” to enable proper self-service (without chaos)
  • Lock down data properly — RLS, OLS, roles and access control
  • Ensure everything meets strict regulatory standards (GDPR, PCI, ITAR)
  • Act as the go-to person for the reporting platform
  • Train users and push adoption across the business
  • Move teams away from spreadsheets and into governed reporting

What you need:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Warehouse + Lakehouse)
  • Proven track record building data pipelines (ADF / Fabric)
  • Deep Power BI experience (modelling, DAX, admin, performance)
  • Solid grasp of data modelling and transformation (Power Query, Python)
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP data (messy, high-volume, real-world)
  • Confidence handling financial data where accuracy matters

Nice to have:

  • SAP Datasphere exposure
  • PowerShell / R for automation or analysis

The profile:

  • Proper data engineer who understands reporting — not one or the other
  • Comfortable owning a platform, not just contributing to one
  • Able to challenge stakeholders and cut through bad requirements
  • Brings structure, standards and a bit of backbone

Other:

  • Degree helpful, not essential
  • Power BI certification a bonus
  • Must be eligible for UK SC Clearance
