Central Birmingham
At Standard 8, we’re working with a top digital agency in the heart of Birmingham that’s quietly building some of the best-looking and most technically polished websites in the region. They’re now looking for a Web Developer who can turn clever design and solid UX into clean, performant, and genuinely elegant code.
You’ll be joining a small but seriously talented team where collaboration isn’t just a buzzword. You’ll get to work across a variety of projects - mainly WordPress, React and Next.js builds - and you’ll have the freedom to shape how things are done, not just follow a ticket queue.
The work is mostly front-end focused, but if you’ve ever had to dip into PHP to sort out a rogue plugin or build a custom template, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll need
* Strong WordPress experience, including custom themes and templates
* Familiarity with headless CMS setups and Twig templating
* Sharp front-end skills: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript (ES6+)
* Comfortable with Sass, Gulp/Webpack, and frameworks like Tailwind
* Knowledge of React/Next.js and GraphQL
* Experience handling HTML emails, DNS records, and cPanel/WHM
* A decent grasp of SEO principles and how code affects ranking
* Previous experience in a digital agency environment
The sort of person who’ll thrive there
* Someone who brings ideas, not just solutions
* A self-starter who enjoys owning their projects and seeing them through
* A team player who can chat confidently with both designers and clients
* Someone who loves learning new tools and isn’t afraid to experiment
* A genuine digital enthusiast who takes pride in making things look and work brilliantly
