As we continue to grow and invest in our operations, we have a new Head of Engineering role at our Grantham processing facility. Our operations span Northern Queensland, with extensive cattle properties, backgrounding operations in Southern Queensland, state-of-the-art feedlots, a fully accredited beef processing facility, and global marketing capabilities. We offer a full range of grain-fed and grass-fed beef categories and export to over 40 countries worldwide.
About Your Role: This is a critical operational leadership role with full accountability for plant-wide maintenance and engineering across processing, boning, refrigeration, rendering, and site utilities. You’ll lead a team of maintenance professionals and contractors, drive a proactive maintenance culture, and work closely with operations and our capital projects team to keep the facility performing at its best. If you’re the kind of leader who is equally comfortable in a planning meeting and on the floor with a spanner, this role was built for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading and executing the plant-wide maintenance strategy across preventative and reactive programs
- Driving uptime and reliability, minimising downtime across all departments
- Taking full accountability for site utilities including refrigeration (ammonia/glycol), water systems, steam and hot water, and electrical infrastructure
- Managing and developing your maintenance team and contractor relationships
- Partnering with the capital projects team on plant upgrades and CAPEX delivery
- Ensuring compliance with DAFF, HACCP, and export standards
- Maintaining structured systems for work orders, breakdown reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Implementing and managing environmental and sustainability programs

- Proven track record in a senior maintenance or engineering leadership role in a high-throughput manufacturing environment - food or meat processing highly regarded
- Strong technical knowledge across refrigeration systems, utilities, and mechanical and electrical plant services
- A practical, solutions-focused operator who leads from the front and holds the team to account
- Confident managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Strong communicator who builds effective relationships across departments
