Stamford School is seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and committed Sports Coaches to join our thriving Sports Department. These roles provide an exciting opportunity for coaches to contribute to a high performing and ambitious school sports programme while supporting the development of young athletes across a range of sports.

The successful candidates will support the provision of quality sporting experiences to the students of Stamford School across our mass participation sports of hockey, netball, and rugby, with additional skills in summer sports including athletics, cricket, and tennis. The roles will involve planning and delivering high quality coaching sessions across both curriculum and cocurricular sport for pupils aged 11–18, while contributing to a positive, disciplined, and high-performing sporting environment.

Working closely with colleagues across the Sports teams, the successful candidates will support player development, wellbeing, and performance through training sessions, fixtures, tournaments, and wider departmental activities. Coaches will play an important role in helping students develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, and sporting excellence both on and off the field.

We are looking for individuals with experience coaching youth athletes and a strong understanding of current coaching and athlete development practices. Experience of playing and/or coaching sport to a high standard is essential, particularly within rugby, hockey, or netball. Successful applicants will demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, enthusiasm, reliability, and a strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Practical experience within Sports Coaching.
  • Experience in coaching youth athletes.
  • Experience of playing and/or coaching sport to a good standard.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current principles of respective sport.
  • Coaching Qualification in respective sporting codes and/or willingness to work towards.
  • Experience of playing and/or coaching rugby to a high standard.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to communicate appropriately, develop and motivate young athletes.
  • Strong work ethic, punctual, reliable and professional.
  • Has the ability to fulfil the responsibilities of the post with energy, enthusiasm and excellence.
  • Has good listening skills and respect for all students, staff and parents.
  • Has the ability to generate enthusiasm for the work of the Department, and that he/she has the ability to achieve high standards in coaching, application of knowledge, behaviour management, a commitment to personal and professional development and a willingness to be fully involved in the cocurricular life of the school.
