Job Summary: Data Migration Lead
The Data Migration Lead is responsible for planning, managing, and executing the migration of healthcare data from legacy systems to new Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms (e.g., Epic, Oracle Health – Cerner, Meditech). This role is critical to the success of digital transformation programmes within NHS trusts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the Data Migration Strategy and Plan.
- Deploy and manage the transformation software and tools.
- Manage data migration sub-workstreams, ensuring alignment with clinical workflows and digital requirements.
- Oversee data quality assurance, validation, and cleansing processes.
- Coordinate with clinical teams, IT, infrastructure, and third-party suppliers.
- Lead risk and issue management related to data migration.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings and ensure effective communication across departments.
- Monitor progress and report to programme boards and digital working groups.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in data migration and data quality roles, preferably within healthcare.
- Experience in leading data migration projects end-to-end.
- Strong understanding of NHS data models and statutory reporting.
- Experience with EHR systems – Preferred Oracle Health (Cerner Millennium).
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
- At least 3 years’ experience in Microsoft T-SQL querying and writing SQL queries to analyse data, or similar RDBMS querying languages.
- Experience as a Data Analyst or Data Migration Specialist, ideally working within Data Migration projects.
- Experience in a customer-facing/consultancy role, including the ability to facilitate sessions through MS Teams.
- Strong MS Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Copilot.
- Knowledge of Jira.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SSIS or equivalent ETL Tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in data management or migration are an advantage.
This role requires occasional attendance at the customer site or, more typically, participation in remote meetings.
