You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our fleet of vehicles are maintained to the standard required by the Company, TfL and the DVSA. Your role as Deputy Engineering Manager is not just about achieving maximum vehicle availability and continually improving standards, you will also have a direct influence on Health & Safety compliance, fatigue management and employee wellbeing.You should have a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance procedures for large vehicles, preferably PCVs, as well as knowledge of electrical engineering, bodywork construction and basic stores procedures. The post holder should have the ability to gain a Transport CPC, if requested to do so. The ability to plan, prioritise, analyse and make decisions is also essential as well as an up-to-date understanding of Health & Safety legislation.Our Plumstead garage operates a varied range of double deck buses including a number of hybrid and electric buses. You’ve probably seen some of our buses driving around south east London, transporting our fantastic customers around the area. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering management team you’ll be key to making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that.
