We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager at our Plumstead garage in our south east London and Kent operation but the role could be at any of our locations in our operating area in east and south east London. The Engineering Manager is the lead of the local Engineering function, working towards an exceptional maintenance service for all vehicles operated by Stagecoach, to the standards of TfL and the DVSA to ensure maximum vehicle availability at any given time. The position also leads on various facets of the Safety Strategy Agenda, as well as the collective objectives and strategy of the Engineering function as a whole.

What you’ll lead in:
- Planning and managing the vehicle maintenance and repair function in accordance with Stagecoach policy to obtain maximum utilisation of the labour and resources available to meet the requirements of the Department of Transport Operators licence.
- Responsibility for the leadership, motivation, performance management, learning development and discipline of the local Engineering team, ensuring all Engineering staff commit and comply with HSQE legislation and policy, as well as COSHH and manual handling standards.
- Ensuring the needs of the Operating department are met and that there are sufficient vehicles to meet PVR, as well as ensuring all vehicles provided for operation comply with the standards set by the Company, DVSA and TfL.
- Remaining abreast of environmental, industry and technical developments with the skill to practically implement policy changes as a result.
- Working within allocated budget to guarantee that stores hold adequate material supplies in line with the workshop requirements.
What we’ll need from you:
- Demonstrable previous experience in a senior, supervisory or engineering management remit is essential – preferably within transport with a knowledge of PCV vehicles.
- Interpersonal skills such as communication, influence, leadership and motivation, along with meticulous time management and planning.
- Ability to make rational decisions under pressure.
