As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in designing and building the data infrastructure that underpins how we operate, from creating a single source of truth to enabling smarter, faster, and evidence‑based decisions across the business. What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting in the delivery of data that informs the whole business.
- Designing, building, and deploying data pipelines within the Stagecoach Integration Platform (SIP) and Data Warehouse.
- Delivering systems to store and retrieve large volumes of data securely and efficiently.
- Integrating data from multiple sources, leveraging APIs, applications, and external systems.
- Developing, monitoring, and improving the quality, performance, and reliability of our data & integration platform.
- Working closely with the wider Data, Analytics & Insight team to deliver end‑to‑end data products.
- Ensuring all solutions meet information security and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Central Functions and Operating Companies to deliver data capabilities that support strategic goals.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong expertise in Python and SQL for data integration and engineering.
- Strong expertise with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, but Azure/GCP also welcome).
- Expertise in data warehousing tools (e.g. Redshift, Snowflake) and concepts.
- Understanding of industry‑standard best practice on how to model data for the most efficient storage and retrieval.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Mentorship and leadership skills on complex deliverables.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues clearly to non‑technical audiences.
