STAFFR is hiring a Senior or Principal Recruitment Consultant to build and grow a specialist desk within the US technology market. This is a new-business-led role for someone who enjoys owning their market, winning clients and building long-term commercial relationships (whilst farming our house accounts). You will have the autonomy to run your desk properly, with the support, coaching and infrastructure to scale it.

The role

  • You will own a defined niche within US technology recruitment and be responsible for growing it into a high-performing, recognised desk.
  • Your day-to-day will include:
    • Winning new business and developing client relationships
    • Building a strong candidate network within your specialist market
    • Running retained, exclusive and contingent recruitment processes
    • Managing your own pipeline, activity and conversion data
    • Delivering high-quality service to both clients and candidates
    • Working closely with leadership to shape market strategy and improve how we operate
    • Contributing to the wider growth of the technology division

This is not a KPI-heavy environment. We care about outcomes, quality and commercial performance. That said, autonomy comes with accountability. The people who do well here understand their numbers, consistently create opportunities and take ownership of their own success.

What we are looking for

  • You will likely have at least two years of agency recruitment experience and a proven record of building your own desk.
  • We are looking for someone who is commercially sharp, competitive and comfortable creating business from scratch rather than relying on inherited accounts.
  • Ideally, you will have:
    • 2+ years of agency recruitment experience
    • A track record of billing £200k+ in a 12-month period
    • At least 50% of billings generated through self-won business
    • Experience winning and developing new client relationships
    • Strong business acumen and an understanding of how to build a profitable desk
    • A track record of working independently and following through when things get difficult
    • High standards around candidate experience, client service and delivery

We care more about mindset and evidence of performance than time served. You do not need to have done everything already, but you do need to be ambitious, proactive and serious about building something.

What success looks like

  • During your first year, you will be expected to:
    • Build credibility in a defined US technology niche
    • Win and develop new client relationships
    • Create a healthy and predictable pipeline
    • Deliver consistently strong candidate and client experiences
    • Build a desk with clear commercial momentum
    • Add ideas and value to the wider STAFFR business

There is real scope for this role to grow beyond individual billing. Strong performers will have the opportunity to move into leadership, build a specialist division or take on broader commercial responsibility as the business scales.

What you will get

  • Market-leading commission structure, 30% flat - no thresholds
  • Employee Share Option Plan
  • Retained and exclusive work with fast-growing US technology companies
  • One-to-one coaching from experienced recruiters who are still actively billing
  • Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week in our Manchester office
  • Unlimited PTO
  • £100 monthly wellbeing allowance
  • High-quality recruitment technology and tooling
  • Weekly team lunches, monthly socials and quarterly incentives
  • Exposure to VC and PE-backed technology businesses across the US
  • Transparent performance data and coaching focused on helping you improve
  • A supportive, low-ego environment where people work hard and help each other
