The University of Staffordshire is looking for a Technical Specialist to support our Animation and Moving Image facilities, equipment and software. We’re looking for someone who enjoys creative technology and wants to help students get the most from their learning experience. You’ll work closely with students, academic staff and technical colleagues in a busy and creative environment. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll help people use specialist software and equipment, solve problems, and keep facilities running smoothly. You’ll also help create learning resources and provide guidance on industry‑standard tools used in animation and moving image production. We are a supportive team that values learning, development and sharing knowledge. We encourage staff to build new skills and take part in professional development opportunities.

What You’ll Do

  • Support students in using animation and digital content creation software
  • Provide guidance on tools such as Maya, Harmony, Storyboard Pro, Rhino and ZBrush
  • Help students and staff solve technical problems
  • Maintain specialist software, equipment and digital resources
  • Help keep studios, labs and technical spaces organised and ready for use
  • Support safe working practices across technical areas
  • Assist with software updates, equipment upgrades and new technology projects
  • Support university events and other departmental activities when needed

  • Experience of animation, moving image or digital creative technologies
  • Enjoys helping others learn and develop their skills
  • Can explain technical information in a clear and friendly way
