The Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement Officer will play a key role in fundraising activity and building meaningful relationships with a wide range of audiences which results in gifts of time, talent and resource. They will proactively manage and drive the development of the prospect portfolio across High Net Worth individuals (HNWs), Corporates, Trusts and Foundations to secure philanthropic support for the University of Staffordshire’s strategic priorities. They will coordinate the honorary doctorate process and relationship management alongside the High Value Relationships Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead on implementing the alumni engagement strategy - ensuring that as many alumni as possible remain in contact and participate in wider engagement activities such as subject/sector/specialist group reunions and role model programme or professional networks.
  • Liaise with colleagues to determine students' needs, set fundraising priorities, provide cases for support, develop fundraising bids and distribute funds successfully to deliver positive outcomes for students.
  • Maintain relationships with key funding bodies who provide regular, annual funding to support student bursaries, scholarships and opportunity awards.
  • In liaison with the High Value Relationships Manager, identify and secure new streams of revenue.
  • Maintain relationships with the Honorary Doctors network – past, present and future. This includes running the nomination process, conferment board and Hon Doc Soc gatherings in liaison with the High Value Relationships Manager.
  • Develop and nurture a complex set of mutually beneficial relationships with major stakeholders and supporters of the University who will bring opportunities of time, talent and treasure to the University and its students. To include key alumni, industry leaders; philanthropists, civic leaders, key influencers and sponsors.
  • Support on stakeholder mapping.
  • Ensure an accurate audit trail is maintained of stakeholder engagement and contact/activities are recorded on a database.
  • Lead on due diligence of donors, GDPR and ethical fundraising practice to ensure the University is compliant and meets the regulations set out by the Fundraising Regulator.
