About the role
The University of Staffordshire is looking to recruit a Nights Security Officer for our Campus Security team. The team provides a service 24/7, 365 days a year, and this position will operate on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern working 10 or 12 hour shifts on permanent nights.
This is a security role like no other and will vary shift to shift. Your primary role will be the safety and security of everyone on campus, responding to incidents and working within a busy control room. Our service provision offers much more.
We are looking for someone who can provide excellent customer service, support vulnerable individuals, show compassion and empathy, and engage confidently with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
This is a physically demanding role, where officers can walk between 20-30,000 steps a shift in all weathers, in response to incidents and calls from staff, students, and visitors. It is also technically demanding, with the regular use of PC-based systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake patrols around the campus at regular intervals in line with strategic SOPs.
- Monitor and review CCTV in order to detect and prevent crime, and in response to incidents.
- Respond to incidents, logging actions taken and completing relevant documentation.
- Work closely with police and other emergency services.
- Provision of first aid and mental health first aid in support of other services.
- Conduct health and safety checks.
- Deal with contractors and visitors, providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Ensure the physical security of the campus through the use of physical security measures and systems.
