Permanent Part Time 18.5 Hours

The University of Staffordshire is seeking a dedicated, community minded and proactive Campus Security Officer to join our Security Team on a part time night shift pattern (2 nights on, 6 nights off). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a varied, fast paced environment, makes confident and fair decisions, and is committed to delivering excellent support and customer service to our diverse university community. This is not a traditional security role. It is active and physically demanding, and you will play a key part in creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming campus for students, staff and visitors.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional customer service to students, colleagues and visitors, ensuring everyone feels respected and supported
  • Supporting university events as required throughout the year
  • Participating in ongoing training and development, including opportunities to build skills relevant to the role and wider university operations
  • Responding to first aid incidents, fire alarms and panic alarms, ensuring calm, safe and timely action
  • Using digital systems confidently, including CCTV, access control, fire systems and incident reporting tools

We welcome applicants who may not yet have all the skills listed but are willing to learn and open to training.

Working Pattern

  • Night shifts on a 2 on / 6 off rotation
  • Shifts are typically 10-12 hours
