Special Constable

Special Constables are part‑time, voluntary police officers who work in some of the most important areas of modern policing. They have the same powers, uniform and equipment as regular officers and work alongside front‑line officers and police staff to help keep our people, places and communities of Staffordshire safe.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated individuals to volunteer for 16 plus hours of operational policing a month. Applicants must hold a full manual driving licence.

Training Programme

The training programme will be conducted on alternative weekends over a 23‑week period. Intake is January. Attendance is mandatory on all listed dates.

  • Week 4 – self‑learn
  • Feb 13/14 – attendance
  • Week 6 – self‑learn
  • Week 7 – self‑learn
  • Mar 6/7 – attendance
  • Week 9 – self‑learn
  • Mar 20/21 – attendance
  • Week 11 – self‑learn
  • Apr 3/4 – attendance
  • Week 13 – self‑learn
  • Apr 17/18 – attendance
  • Week 15 – self‑learn
  • May 1/2 – attendance
  • Week 17 – self‑learn
  • May 13–16 – attendance (Thursday & Friday full days required)
  • Week 19 – self‑learn
  • May 29/30 – attendance
  • Week 21 – self‑learn
  • Jun 10–13 – attendance (Thursday & Friday full days required)
  • Week 23 – self‑learn
  • Jun 26/27 – attendance
