Do you have the leadership, integrity and investigative expertise to tackle corruption, protect organisational integrity and safeguard public trust? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Detective Inspector within the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for leading the force's response to corruption-related threats, intelligence development and proactive investigations. The successful candidate will oversee complex, sensitive and often covert enquiries relating to police corruption, abuse of position, information breaches, inappropriate associations, dishonest conduct and other matters that threaten public confidence in policing.

As the Detective Inspector for Anti-Corruption, you will provide leadership and governance to a team of investigators and intelligence practitioners, ensuring that intelligence is effectively developed, assessed and exploited to identify, prevent and investigate corruption risks across the organisation. You will be responsible for the management of high-risk and high-profile investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, national guidance, covert policing authorities and professional standards frameworks. Working closely with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), Regional Organised Crime Units, counter-corruption networks and partner agencies, you will identify emerging threats and deliver effective interventions that protect both the organisation and the public.

The role requires strong leadership, sound judgement and the ability to balance organisational risk, individual welfare and operational effectiveness in complex and challenging circumstances. You will play a key role in shaping force-wide integrity strategies, developing preventative approaches to corruption, promoting organisational learning and ensuring Staffordshire Police maintains the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.

Selection Process

Applicants must be PIP2 Manager qualified. Applicants will be expected to work towards PIP3 SOC qualification. Following an assessment of applications received, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a competency and values-based interview.

Eligibility

To apply as a Transferee as part of Alliance policing you must:

  • Be a serving Police Officer in a Home Office Force.
  • Have satisfactorily completed the period of probationary service in the rank of constable.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.

Onboarding

You will be required to complete and pass a role-based interview which will focus on the competencies and values required for the role. Appointment will be dependent upon successfully passing pre-employment checks, vetting, and medical, which will include a drugs test and a fitness test.
