Commercial Services is an integral part of the Enabling Services Directorate at Staffordshire Police, and their purpose is to ensure our operational colleagues are supported with the correct tools to be able to deliver their critical jobs. The Commercial Services department currently consists of a team of colleagues working across Procurement, Purchasing, Insurance and Sustainability. There is currently an exciting new role within our Commercial Services Team, as a Senior Procurement Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for a Procurement Apprentice within the team of Procurement Officers, ensuring delivery of a robust and strategic approach for negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance and formulating procurement strategies.
  • Act as a trusted commercial expert offering expertise for both strategic and transactional procurement, working closely with colleagues at all levels and attending key boards.
  • Ensure value for money is achieved, and maintain compliance with all contractual work against public sector procurement legislation.
  • Contract performance management of key and significant contracts, participating in supplier meetings to demonstrate value for money throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Coaching and supporting Procurement Officers, supporting Procurement Managers to get the best out of people.
  • Report to the Senior Commercial Business Partner, who will support and guide you to ensure you are at your most able to deliver the full role.
