About The Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional Health & Safety Adviser to join our growing Health & Safety team in Staffordshire. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a proactive and forward-thinking function that is committed to continuously improving safety standards across the force.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a robust health and safety framework. You will work collaboratively with departments at all levels, helping to embed a positive safety culture and ensuring that health and safety is integrated into everyday operations.
This role requires a hands‑on and solutions‑focused approach, where you will not only provide expert advice but also actively engage with teams to identify risks, implement improvements, and drive compliance. You will contribute to the ongoing development of policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring they remain effective and aligned with current legislation.
As part of a dynamic and developing team, you will have the opportunity to influence change, support senior leaders with meaningful safety insights, and play a vital role in ensuring safety compliance is to the highest standards across the force.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert health and safety advice and guidance across the organisation
- Undertake health and safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation and internal standards
- Monitor safety performance, reporting findings to senior leaders and recommending corrective actions
- Develop and review risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Monitor accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying trends and areas for improvement
- Participate in accident investigations and prepare detailed reports for senior leaders, line managers, and relevant work groups
- Conduct ergonomic assessments, offering practical advice and guidance
- Manage and maintain ergonomic equipment and stock
- Assist the H&S manager and attend internal governance meetings to relay health and safety information when required

Eligibility
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Ability to work independently across Staffordshire Police sites conducting inspections, audits and ergonomic assessments
- Full, valid and clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
