About The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join the POLIT team as a Detective Constable.

Being outstanding at protecting the vulnerable people in our communities is one of the most rewarding roles in policing. Our Public Protection Unit (PPU) is growing and you have a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of our transformation.

We have an excellent opportunity for a substantive DC or PC to join POLIT (Police Online Investigation Team, formerly known as Safenet) - a small but dedicated team responsible for proactive and reactive investigations of online child abuse across Staffordshire.

Applications from student officers will be considered on a case by case basis, and must have a completed portfolio and currently be on track with their performance.

This dedicated team is responsible for actioning all intelligence that relates to the sharing of child sexual abuse material and online sexual communication with children.

The role deals with complex online investigations and you will need to be able to manage a large amount of material in an investigation, heavily focused on digital data and child protection.

You will be responsible for the OIC and disclosure roles taking investigations from initial intelligence through to court. You will have a sound and comprehensive understanding of Safeguarding as the role deals with the highest risk offenders and victims.

An excellent knowledge of investigation is expected from the outset, but the opportunity for further focussed development will be provided to build on your expertise in a Child protection and digital investigations.

Am I eligible?

To apply as a Transferee as part of Alliance policing you must:

  • Be a serving Police Officer in a Home Office Force.
  • Have satisfactorily completed the period of probationary service in the rank of constable.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
