A great opportunity has become available to join our Health and Safety Team. You will assist and co-ordinate health and safety provision to enable the authority to comply with its duties towards employees and others as laid down in legislation. We are looking for a NEBOSH General Certified individual, who will commit to furthering their qualification by way of a fully funded NEBOSH Diploma pathway, and becoming an accredited Chartered Member of IOSH (subject to a learner agreement). On completion, a salary increase to Grade 8 (currently starting at £39,152) will be applied.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice to the Principal Managers, Joint Health and Safety Committee and Department Heads as required on all H&S related matters
- Provide support, guidance and assistance, to advisory teams and workplace safety teams, particularly the Group Managers and the health and safety reference within Area Command groups
- Audit, review and monitor existing procedures; identify shortfalls, modifications or areas of improvement, existing or developing trends.
- Deliver training packages and deliver training programs, staff induction, risk assessment and supervisory manager H&S module
About You
We’re seeking a proactive and flexible individual with demonstrable experience in Health and Safety, who is willing to positively promote Health and Safety within the service.
Essential Criteria:
- NEBOSH Certificate
- Significant Health and Safety experience
- Working knowledge of HSE legislation and ongoing developments that may impact SFRS.
- Experience in the development of Risk Assessments, Policies, Auditing and Safe Systems of Work
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written, coupled with the ability to deliver effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Clear and concise writing style with the ability to produce reports, guidance and other internal documentation
- Full UK driving licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles
