Grade 6 – £31,537 – £34,434 plus shift allowance

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Lichfield Community Fire Station

Hours: Shift 0800 – 1900; overtime may be required after falls or hospital discharge calls.

Duration: Substantive

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service invites applications to support our Falls Response Service by attending non‑urgent ICCC‑triaged calls, assisting patients who have fallen using manual‑handling equipment, conducting Home Fire Safety Visits that incorporate falls‑prevention advice, and supporting the Home from Hospital Team in transporting discharged patients home.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to ICC calls and assist patients who have fallen, safely carrying out manual handling using appropriate lifting equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and use available equipment to ensure the safe movement and support of patients, while supporting the Home from Hospital Team at Newcastle Community Fire Station.
  • Carry out Home Fire Safety Visits, maintain accurate records and complete data entry on Service systems in accordance with data protection and security requirements.
  • Adapt to changing demands, remain flexible and undertake necessary training to maintain skills and role competence.
  • Provide high‑quality patient interaction, demonstrating professionalism, dignity, respect, clear communication, confidentiality and commitment to Equality & Diversity.
  • Drive and maintain SFRS vehicles, ensuring they are clean, correctly stocked, refuelled and fit for purpose.
  • Carry out any other duties, commensurate with the grade, as required by the Head of Prevent, Protect and Partnerships.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of working alone efficiently and using initiative to meet demands.
  • Present a smart appearance and convey confidence to the public.
  • Full Driving Licence; over 25 and less than 6 penalty points.

Desirable

  • Experience handling specialist equipment such as Manger Camel/Elk lifting device or Raizer chair and patient handling techniques.
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups.
  • First Response Emergency Care 3 Qualification.

Health and Safety and Information Security

  • Adhere to Services Health and Safety and Manual Handling policies.
  • Support the department to ensure Health and Safety requirements are complied with in accordance with Service Policy.
  • Maintain all data in accordance with Service Policy, GDPR, Freedom of Information and current legislation.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post requires an Enhanced Adult DBS check before commencement of employment.
