We're looking for an experienced and motivated Team Leader to join our Corporate Operations Team, providing high-quality, professional business support within the Tamworth district supporting the Children & Families directorate. This is a key leadership role where you'll manage and coordinate a team of Business Support staff, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, consistently and in line with statutory, governance and corporate requirements. You'll play a vital role in enabling frontline services by anticipating needs, managing resources effectively and continuously improving how support is delivered. The position is full time, working 37 hours over 5 days (Monday to Thursday 8:30–17:00 and Fridays 8:30–16:30) based within Tamworth Library.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and support a team of Business Support staff, ensuring effective deployment of resources
- Oversee recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of staff
- Manage performance using 1:1s, supervision and HR processes
- Take responsibility for financial processes including budget monitoring, authorising transactions, purchase cards, agency accounts and cash handling
- Provide high-level business support and advice to managers and staff
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, governance, data protection and health & safety requirements
- Oversee premises-related responsibilities, including building maintenance, fire safety and housekeeping standards
- Promote digital solutions, continuous improvement and efficient business processes
- Contribute to team planning and wider service development
You’ll also play an important role in supporting service resilience and promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability and collaboration.
Qualifications
- Proven experience of supervising or managing staff, including performance and workload management
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience of financial monitoring and transactional processes
- Confidence working with senior managers and stakeholders across a large, complex organisation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and business systems
- A proactive, flexible approach with the confidence to work independently and use your initiative
You will ideally hold a qualification in Business Administration, Management or Supervision, or have equivalent experience.
