The Staffordshire Centre for Data Analytics (SCDA) is a small, collaborative team hosted by Staffordshire County Council, working across organisations to generate analytical insights and support coordinated responses to shared challenges in Staffordshire through innovative research and data analysis.
The Research and Analysis Officer will play a key role in delivering this work by undertaking research, analysing a range of data sources, and translating findings into clear, evidence-based insights and recommendations. The role involves working closely with partners, contributing to workshops and meetings, and supporting project delivery to high standards of data quality, governance, and ethics. The post holder will also promote the use of innovative analytical approaches and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and ways of working.
The role will follow a hybrid working arrangement from Monday to Friday for a fixed term from September 2026 to the end of March 2028.
Key responsibilities- Complete desktop and wider research on identified shared challenges, establish stakeholder requirements and ensure they are met.
- Co‑ordinate, interpret and analyse a range of data, including primary research, qualitative and quantitative data.
- Produce briefings and presentations for stakeholders, providing clear evidence-based understanding of the project, and making recommendations for next steps.
- Build positive and effective working relationships with a range of people across Staffordshire who play an active role in the success of the Centre.
- Understand and apply information governance principles in the design and delivery of projects.
- Maintain awareness of innovation within analysis to ensure the use of the latest tools, techniques, best practice and information relevant to the role.
- Be educated to A‑Level standard or equivalent in experience, professional qualification or other evidence of considerable business intelligence, data management and analytical abilities.
- Have knowledge and experience of using a range of insight tools and techniques, including qualitative and quantitative analysis, statistical techniques and methodologies.
- Have the ability to undertake research, utilising appropriate methodologies to collate, analyse, evaluate and present information to different stakeholders across a diverse audience.
- Have experience of using O365 and IT systems to gather, analyse and present information.
- Have the ability to build credible relationships and networks with stakeholders and managers from varying professional backgrounds.
- Have an excellent standard of written English and be able to interpret numerical data quickly and effectively.
- Be a team player with a positive can‑do attitude.
- Want to make a real difference to public services.
- Have an understanding of local government, the broader public sector and partnership working.
- Have knowledge and understanding of information governance and data protection principles and processes.
- Have experience in cross‑organisation and partnership working.
- Have awareness of project planning, monitoring and reporting techniques.
- Have advanced IT skills with awareness of Power BI and apps to collate and analyse complex data.
