To ensure we can deliver our ambitious Highways Transformation we are looking to grow our team of highway engineering professionals and develop talent for the future.

Although your base will be in Stafford, we have highway maintenance teams working from a number of locations across the county and are able to discuss flexible working options and locations that might be applicable for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the detailed design of structural maintenance projects on the public highway with projects ranging from small hotspot schemes, to large, multi-million pound, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Commission projects through our delivery partner and supply chain, ensuring co-ordination with other activities on the network through multi-disciplinary teams and ECI.
  • Lead on engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for quality assurance at all stages of project delivery.
  • Manage budget and spend for individual projects, to include change management and reporting to ensure best value for all our activities.
  • Act as Designer under CDM regulations ensure all duties are discharged competently.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Significant prior experience in the design and commission of highway maintenance schemes.
  • Experience of local government agreements, specification, standards and contracts for the delivery of structural maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of highway construction processes, operations and materials and their applicability to varying defects, condition and type of highway.
  • Knowledge of highway asset management principles in a local authority context.
  • Experience of leading stakeholder communications and dealing with customers.
  • Full driving license required.
