At Staffordshire County Council we are focusing our efforts on our People Strategy which aims to make the organisation a great place to work. The Pay & Reward Team plays an important role in achieving the outcomes of this strategy. As a Pay & Reward Assistant you will play a key role within our team to help us achieve the delivery of new projects, develop processes and improve our employee benefits offer. You will assist with the implementation of Pay & Reward policies and system improvements. You will also assist with other pay related processes such as answering pay & reward related queries, undertaking pay benchmarking and assist with the Council's job evaluation process. You will be a highly valued member of a small, enthusiastic team who continually seek to improve processes and develop the Pay & Reward offer at the Council. This opportunity is fixed term until September 2027 to cover a secondment. You'll work full time Monday to Friday, this includes some working from home but a minimum of two days in the office.
Responsibilities
- Providing advice and guidance to others on pay and reward related processes
- Investigating and responding to pay related queries
- Reviewing employee data to support reward processes and dealing with errors
- Researching information sources to improve processes or to benchmark job roles
- Promoting and supporting our employee benefits and recognition schemes
- Supporting implementation and monitoring of our job evaluation processes
You will require experience of working in a human resource, pay and reward or payroll environment and ideally, knowledge of local government. You'll also need an eye for detail and enjoy working with Excel as this role reviews data regularly.
Qualifications
- Educated to A level or equivalent qualification / experience
- Knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies, procedure and initiatives
- Experience of providing HR or pay and reward advice and guidance
- Experience of undertaking research, supporting improvements and changes to processes
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and analysing employee data

We expect to undertake the recruitment process week commencing 27 April which will include an interview and short practical assessment.
