Business Support is key to the success of our Children’s Services because our Business Support teams are there, making sure things run smoothly, so that our frontline colleagues can deliver for children and families in the community. All that work in the background doesn’t just happen, it takes dedicated colleagues, taking pride in their work and seeing a purpose in the work they are doing.

The post holder will be predominantly office based, although some home working is arranged on a rota basis depending on the demands of the service. This is a fixed-term, full-time position (37 hours per week) until the end of March 2026.

Main Responsibilities

You will provide core business functions and work closely with team managers, social workers, professionals, and partners. This includes attending and servicing statutory meetings across the district. You will need full knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to utilise its main applications. Your duties will include chasing workers for paperwork to meet deadlines, inputting and cleansing data in our database to ensure accuracy, and supporting financial processes such as ordering equipment and handling cash payments. Additionally, you will support wider office functions to ensure the delivery of business support services.

The Ideal Candidate

Working in Business Support requires teamwork, good organisational skills, and a good level of IT competency. You should have:

  • NVQ Level III in Business Administration or equivalent
  • An IT qualification equivalent to ECDL or similar
  • Good communication skills for interaction across the organisation and externally via phone, in person, and email
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to keep data updated and meet deadlines
  • A flexible approach to work to adapt to changing priorities
  • A passion for providing excellent service
