You will be thefirst person our patients and visitors meet, so a warm and helpful attitude isimportant.

You will learn how to greet patients, answer phone calls, book appointments, and complete everyday administration tasks.

You will work with a supportive team, receive on-the-job training, and gain valuable skills and a recognised qualification.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include welcoming patients and visitors, answering phone calls, booking and cancelling appointments, updating patient records, responding to enquiries, and carrying out general administrative tasks.

You will also help keep the reception area organised and work with the team to ensure the practice runs smoothly while providing excellent customer service.

Stafford Medical Group is a GP practice in Weston‑Super‑Mare, caring for almost 11,000 patients.

We are a training practice, and our GP Partners are involved in the education of medical students, and a variety of doctor training posts.

We have an excellent relationship with our Patient Participation Group, keeping us patient focused and working together on opportunities to benefit patient care.

We are part of Pier Health Primary Care Network (PCN), that consists of seven GP Practices and covers a population of over 100,000 patients.

We have PCN ARRS staff working on site at the medical centre, providing an excellent multidisciplinary working environment.

Job responsibilities

Duties will include

  • Welcome patients and deal with incoming calls and emails and act upon them accordingly
  • Booking appointments
  • Act on tasks requested by other members of the practice team
  • Process all telephone requests in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner
  • General administration
  • Other duties as and when requested
  • e Consultation
  • Handling patients emails
  • Processing appointments
  • Signposting patients to appropriate healthcare services
  • Processing repeated prescriptions
  • Front desk duties and receiving patients
  • Registration on new patients
  • Scanning
  • Accurately record and update patients data
  • Deal with general enquiries
  • Assist with cancelling and rescheduling appointments as required
  • Updating the computerised appointments system as required
  • Ensure confidentiality of all records
  • The training you will be getting

  • Functional skills maths and English, if required

You will have on the job training within the organisation and have an assigned assessor who will provide you with additional training sessions and assessments to gain the business administrator qualification.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Basic IT skills
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
