Are you a Mechanical design engineer looking for clear progression into a Senior Design Engineer's role? Do you have experience within a Manufacturing environment with Tooling design experience? Are you used to dealing with multiple departments and department heads working collaboratively to achieve the end product and result?

Job Purpose Statement / Nature of work

In this role, you will be required to design and produce both 2D and 3D tooling designs in line with technical and commercial requirements using Inventor and Autocad. You will be responsible for the upkeep of all documentation and files relating to the design of tooling systems used in the manufacture of parts for building systems. In this role, you will need to be highly organised and work with the production team in the development of prototypes in line with company requirements.

  • Designing punch tool and crimping prototype systems and developing existing tooling designs.
  • Monitoring tooling assembly builds to ensure quality.
  • Monitoring and improving processes.
  • Studying work orders, drawings and making controlled alterations to assist with tooling development.
  • Working to set procedures and tolerances.
  • Maintain continuity among colleagues by documenting, reporting and communicating on actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Work and liaise with various departments and external suppliers in the development of tooling systems.
