Location: Skelmersdale, Lancashire

Site-based (part-time)

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 2:30pm (25 hours per week, with a degree of flexibility to provide absence/holiday cover)

Role Overview: My client is seeking an organised and detail-oriented assistant, ideally with lab experience in a similar industry. Assisting the Laboratory Manager with a range of technical and clerical day-to-day tasks to ensure the company maintains its high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing for active ingredient content in herbicides and pesticides using HPLC technology.
  • Sample preparation for testing of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium content in fertilisers.
  • Carrying out testing for the above fertiliser nutrients using well-established testing methods and laboratory equipment.
  • Working safely and effectively within the laboratory environment.
  • Reporting and recording of test results.
  • Maintaining an organised sample retention station.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A level or equivalent in Chemistry.
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work and communicate with staff at all levels throughout the business.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to keep accurate records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 software.
  • Experience in a similar industry or desire to learn.
  • Flexibility with tasks required (e.g., laboratory work, fetching samples).
  • Experience of ISO9001 QMS.
  • Good level of written English.
