About the Role

We are currently recruiting Port Service Operatives on behalf of a leading transport and logistics provider in the maritime sector. This is a hands-on operational role within a busy port environment, offering stability, structured working patterns, and long-term career opportunities.

Whether you come from a background in farming, transport, or heavy vehicle operations, this is a great opportunity to develop within one of Europe\'s leading shipping companies. You\'ll receive training to become a Tugmaster driver while working in a dynamic maritime environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Tugmaster to transfer trailers on and off vessels (training provided).
  • Assist with mooring and vessel loading/unloading procedures.
  • Marshal freight and passenger vehicles for embarkation and disembarkation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety across port areas.
  • Follow structured operational procedures and safety protocols.
  • Adapt to training on new equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth port operations.

Working Pattern

40 hours per week on a two-week rolling rota (7 days worked in 14).

Shifts may be straight shifts or split shifts.

Typical split shifts run approx. 4:30am-10:30am, then return in the afternoon for a second block (timings can vary).

Flexibility is essential as operations can change.

Shifts are designed to provide clear structure, balance, and predictability.

What We\'re Looking For

We\'re after reliable, adaptable, and proactive team players who thrive in fast-paced environments. You\'ll need to:

  • Stay calm under pressure and uphold high safety and service standards.
  • Follow structured processes and be open to training on new equipment.
  • Live within commuting distance of Belfast.
  • Be aged 21 or over (due to vehicle insurance requirements).

Who You Are

You\'re a safety-first professional with recent, hands-on experience in:

  • HGV driving,
  • Agricultural machinery/tractor operations, or
  • Heavy equipment/plant operations.

Experience in a marine or port environment is desirable. You\'re quick to adapt, enjoy hands-on teamwork, and are motivated to build your career in port operations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating large/heavy vehicles (HGVs, Tug masters, tractors, or similar).
  • Previous work in port operations, transport, or logistics is a plus.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to safety and following structured procedures.
