We currently have exciting opportunities in the South Shields area for Port Operatives working within a busy port environment. The primary focus of this role is to ensure all customer cargo operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a varied and hands-on role, working across different areas of the port depending on business needs. No previous port experience is required, as full port-specific training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading products in a safe and timely manner
- Working on the quayside carrying out labouring duties
- Acting as a Slinger/Banksman when required
- Maintaining the safety of yourself, colleagues, and visitors at all times
- Working flexibly to meet vessel traffic and operational requirements
Shift Pattern
Rostered days, nights, and weekends 12-hour shifts, typically: 06:00 - 18:00, 18:00 - 06:00. Candidates must be flexible to work all shift patterns.
Experience (Desirable but Not Essential)
- Counterbalance FLT experience
- Previous Slinger/Banksman experience
- Experience working in a busy warehouse or port environment
Pay
£14.54 per hour (same rate for day and night shifts)
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
- Must pass a medical assessment
