Working in partnership with Youngs Seafood in Grimsby we are recruiting a reliable, hardworking Quality Assurance Operative.

FULL TIME:

  • Sunday to Thursday NIGHTS 10pm-6am

ABOUT THE JOB:
The QA Operative is responsible for supporting the Quality and Technical team in maintaining high standards of food safety, product quality, legality and hygiene throughout the production process.
Working primarily on the night shift, the role involves carrying out routine quality and food safety checks, monitoring production processes, ensuring company procedures are followed and promptly reporting any issues or non-conformances.
The QA Operative will work closely with Production, Hygiene and Technical teams to ensure that fish and seafood products are manufactured safely, legally and consistently in accordance with company standards, HACCP procedures and relevant food safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine quality and food safety checks throughout the production process.
  • Monitor production areas to ensure products meet the required quality and specification standards.
  • Check product temperature, weight, appearance, labelling, packaging and presentation.
  • Complete and maintain accurate QA records, check sheets and documentation.
  • Carry out HACCP monitoring and verification checks as required.
  • Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and other control points according to company procedures.
  • Ensure correct product identification, traceability, date coding and labelling.
  • Conduct hygiene and housekeeping inspections within production areas.
  • Check that employees are following good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety and hygiene procedures.
  • Identify and report product defects, quality issues and food safety concerns.
  • Place affected products on hold when required and escalate issues to the appropriate manager.
  • Assist with investigations into non-conformances and customer complaints.
  • Monitor corrective actions and ensure issues are followed up appropriately.
  • Carry out environmental and product checks as required by the site quality system.
  • Support internal audits, inspections and customer/third-party audits when required.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately, clearly and within the required timeframes.
  • Communicate any quality or food safety concerns to the Production and Technical teams.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, HACCP procedures, BRCGS requirements and relevant food safety legislation.
  • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the QA/Technical Management team.

Skills and Experience
Essential:

  • Previous experience in a QA, Technical, Quality Control or food manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and food safety principles.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to identify deviations from required standards.
  • Ability to complete paperwork and electronic records accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions when issues arise.
  • Good level of English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to work night shifts in a fast-paced production environment.
