Job Overview:
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Saw Operator to join a busy and well-established engineering/manufacturing company in Billingham. This is a hands-on role focused on accurately cutting materials to specification while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating band saws / circular saws to cut materials to size
- Working from cutting lists and basic engineering drawings
- Measuring and marking materials accurately
- Carrying out blade changes and basic machine checks
- Ensuring materials meet required tolerances and quality standards
- Maintaining a clean and safe working area
- Following all health & safety procedures at all times
Hand Tools Used:
- Tape measure
- Steel rule
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometer
- Scribers / marking tools
- Spanners
- Socket set
- Allen keys
- Screwdrivers
- Hammers / mallets
- Files
- Deburring tools
- Clamps
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Saw Operator or similar role
- Experience cutting steel, aluminium, or other metals
- Confident using hand measuring tools
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- FLT licence advantageous but not essential
