About the Opportunity

Stafforce are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business in the Beverley area. We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team. Working Hours

38.5 hours per week

  • Monday to Thursday: 13:00 - 22:00 (36 hours)
  • Friday: 2.5 hours (flexible)

Flexibility required for overtime, breakdown response, and occasional call-outs.

Key Responsibilities for the role of maintenance engineer

  • Maintenance & Engineering
    • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability
    • Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
    • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues across production equipment
    • Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery
    • Identify root causes of recurring faults and implement long-term solutions
    • Work with automated production systems
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement
    • Support production teams to achieve performance targets (OEE)
    • Reduce downtime and improve machinery efficiency
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Work in line with recognised Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards
    • Follow safe systems of work, including permits and LOTO procedures
    • Promote a strong safety-first culture across the site
    • Report hazards, incidents, and near misses
    • Ensure safe handling of materials and waste
  • Electrical & Equipment Responsibilities
    • Work safely on single-phase and three-phase systems (training provided if required)
    • Ensure all equipment is compliant, safe, and fit for purpose
  • Teamwork & Communication
    • Communicate effectively with production and engineering teams
    • Provide updates on equipment performance, breakdowns, and improvement activity
    • Collaborate to support overall production targets
  • Housekeeping & Standards
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
    • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored

Essential Requirements for the role of maintenance engineer

  • Mechanical or Electrical qualification
  • Experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong fault-finding skills (mechanical and/or electrical)
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems
  • Understanding of health & safety practices
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic IT skills
