About the Role: To support the efficient running of the yard by safely handling, storing, and moving materials, ensuring the site remains organised, compliant, and fully operational at all times. This includes operating a forklift truck to safely transport and position steel within the yard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a forklift truck to safely move steel, fabricated parts, and materials around the site
- Load and unload deliveries of steel and fabrication components
- Supply materials to welders and fabricators as required
- Assist with the movement and positioning of large or heavy steel sections
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard and fabrication area
- Follow all health & safety procedures, particularly around welding and fabrication activities
- Carry out routine checks on lifting equipment and report any faults
- Support basic preparation tasks such as cleaning or organising materials for welding
- Assist with stock control and ensure materials are stored correctly
- Work closely with fabrication and welding teams to support production deadlines
Requirements:
- Valid forklift licence (Counterbalance essential)
- Previous experience working in a yard, fabrication, or welding environment
- Experience handling steel or heavy materials
- Good understanding of health & safety practices, particularly around machinery
