FREIGHT FORWARDING ASSISTANT £25,436 - £30,000 Depending on experience 08.30- 17.00 Immingham Permanent Job Overview We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Freight Forwarding Assistant to join a well established logistics company. Reporting into the forwarding department, you will assist in the smooth day-to-day running of forwarding operations The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high levels of customer service while supporting import, export, and logistics operations Job Role Manage and support freight forwarding activities from quotation through to invoicing. Coordinate import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations. Complete and process customs entries for both import and export movements. Liaise with shipping lines, hauliers, customers, and overseas partners. Obtain and negotiate competitive rates with shipping lines and transport providers. Monitor shipments and proactively resolve any operational issues. Ensure customers receive excellent service and regular updates. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Support the development of efficient operational processes and service standards. Key Skills Previous experience within freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, or customs operations. Strong knowledge of UK and international import/export customs procedures. Experience completing customs entries. Understanding of road freight operations across the EU. Knowledge of shipping lines serving Iberian, Italian, Benelux, and Chinese markets. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
