Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the company, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting and statutory compliance.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a key leadership position offering broad responsibility across management accounting, payroll, cashflow, project accounting and team management.
Main Duties – Financial Controller
- Production of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Leading and developing the accounts team
- Overseeing weekly and monthly payroll processes
- Managing PAYE, pension schemes and associated compliance activities
- Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
- Cashflow forecasting and cash management
- Monthly project analysis and profitability reporting
- Oversight of credit control, sales ledger and purchase ledger functions
- Supporting annual audit processes and tax compliance requirements
- Partnering with the Finance Director on business improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Financial Controller
- Previous experience managing a finance function within an SME environment
- Strong management accounting and financial control experience
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using Sage 50
- Knowledge of MRP systems, stock accounting and WIP calculations
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, industrial or equivalent environment
- A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent organisational skills
