LGV Driver
We are currently recruiting for a LGV Driver to join the team at Mid & East Antrim Borough Council. The role will be based in Tully Depot, Moorefields Road, Ballymena for a duration of three months with possible extension.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Drive any vehicles the postholder is trained in, including but not limited to those in connection with refuse collection, recycling and disposal vehicles, street cleansing services and other operational services vehicles within any given area of the Borough. Ensuring the vehicle is not overloaded and is safely manoeuvred on its daily route.
Efficient completion of the daily/weekly specific work schedules in relation to allocated duties including defined collection routes where applicable.
Take responsibility for the safety, supervision and transportation of the crew, ensuring crew members comply with operational procedures whilst carrying out their duties and dealing with queries from members of the public or referring to the postholder\’s line manager as appropriate.

Hours of Work:
- Successful candidates will be required to work 37 hours per week, working days and hours will be defined based on location and role within the organisation. Given the nature of their duties, the post holder will be expected to work outside of these hours at weekends, evenings and public holidays as dictated by the needs of the service. Mid and East Antrim Borough Council does not operate a Task and Finish Procedure.
Essential Criteria
- Valid Category C LGV Driving Licence
- Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card
- A minimum of one years\’ continuous LGV driving experience
- Must successfully pass a driving assessment. Any penalty points active on the driving licence must be declared along with the relevant code. These will then be assessed for relevance of the duties of the post.
Desirable Criteria:
- A minimum of two years\’ continuous LGV driving experience
- Experience driving a left hand drive vehicle
- One year\’s previous experience of working in a waste environment.
Rate of Pay:
- £15.31 per hour
