Our client requires a skilled and experienced individual to join their team as a Forklift / Plant Mechanic. With experience of Forklift maintenance essential, and possibly Telehandlers, lorries and access equipment, you will play a crucial part in the smooth operation of the workshop, overseeing the repair and maintenance of equipment. Based in Lisburn this is a permanent role with a family run business which has been trading for over 40 years; selling, hiring and servicing Forklifts and Telescopics. As the Forklift Mechanic, you’ll safely prepare client owned equipment and machinery as well as those of their clients. Dependent on your experience, you may be called on to manage and oversee the work of junior mechanics and provide the appropriate on the job training as necessary. You will report into the Parts Purchaser on a daily/weekly basis ensuring that all short-term planning requirements are in place. Responsibilities and Duties : Working with other mechanics and on your own to diagnose and fault and decide on what needs done on forklifts and access equipment. Performing test drivers, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exist and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced. Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes. Working with the parts manager to order parts to ensure job is done as quickly as possible. Carrying out thorough examinations on machines as required. Maintaining accurate records relating to clients, their vehicles, parts, and service history. Completing all documentation to the required standard. Obviously this isn’t an exhaustive list and other duties may arise throughout your working day. Qualifications and Experience: Proven track record in forklift repair and maintenance. Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
