Environmental Health Officer Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Location: Ballymoney Hours: Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week Pay: Β£20.66 per hour We are hiring on behalf of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join their team in Ballymoney. About the Role As an Environmental Health Officer, you will support the delivery of an effective, customer-focused Environmental Health service. Your work will involve inspections, investigations, enforcement activity, and providing professional guidance to the public, businesses, and partner organisations. Key Responsibilities Deliver a professional Environmental Health service that is customer-focused, efficient, and value for money. Conduct inspections of commercial and domestic premises. Investigate complaints, accidents, and public health concerns. Enforce relevant statutory provisions and prepare recommendations and guidance for stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements, working in line with governance and health & safety standards. Maintain confidentiality and complete all responsibilities in a timely and effective manner. Uphold the Council\’s standards of service and professional practice. A full job description is available upon request. Essential Criteria Candidates must meet one of the following qualification routes: 1A. Diploma in Environmental Health from the Environmental Health Officers\’ Registration Board (or historical equivalent); OR 1B. Recognised Degree in Environmental Health from an educational establishment in NI, England, Wales, or the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland Diploma; OR 1C. Recognised Environmental Health qualification from another EU member state plus successful completion of a three-year adaptation period or aptitude test required by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. Additional requirements: Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Detailed knowledge and understanding of current environmental health issues. Full valid Category B driving licence and access to a vehicle OR access to suitable transport enabling you to carry out the duties of the post.
