COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Location: Hillsborough
Division: SAFSD
Hours: Flexible but no less than 22hrs per week
Duration: 5 months
Pay: £19.59 per hour
About AFBI & the Agri-Environment Branch:
The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) delivers world-class science to support agriculture, the environment, and the wider economy. Sponsored by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), AFBI provides evidence-based research and monitoring that informs government policy and promotes sustainability in Northern Ireland and beyond.
Job role
To collate scientific \’stories\’ from the agricultural research program areas within AFBI and translate key messages from them into a variety of public and agri food industry (including farming) facing publications such as press, social media. The stories will range from short articles showcasing the activity of staff and key achievements to more detailed stories on research studies and their outcomes and impacts to farmers in particular.
Essential Criteria
- At least 2 years experience and a proven track record of successfully delivering communications aligned with the needs of the post noted above
- 2 A Levels or equivalent or higher
- AND
- 2 years\’ demonstrable experience in relevant field
OR
- 5 GCSE\’s including science, maths and English language (Grades A*-C for subjects specified) equivalent or higher
AND
- 3 year\’s demonstrable experience in relevant field
