The Opportunity

Our client a top ten accounting firm globally is currently recruiting for an Assistant Accounting Manager to their growing Belfast team – within the role you will take responsibility for the preparation of accurate management accounts and ensuring that client deadlines and met and adhered to.

Moreover, the ideal candidate will take responsibility for balance sheet and payroll reconciliations and take ownership of the scheduling, supervision and reviewing of the assistants and senior assistants work to ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, oversee, and assess the work of assistants and senior assistants to ensure appropriate standards are achieved, providing feedback and setting development goals.
  • Perform analytical reviews of profit and loss accounts, including variance analysis and providing relevant commentary.
  • Oversee all balance sheet and payroll reconciliations.
  • Prepare VAT returns for review by the Authorised Individual.
  • Manage the preparation and finalisation of all necessary Citadel documentation in collaboration with the admin team.

Criteria

  • Fully or partly qualified in CIMA, ACA, or ACCA, or possesses equivalent experience.
  • Experienced with accounting and ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, or Great Plains.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Clear and professional communicator, both in writing and over the phone.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Strong analytical thinking with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Willing to proactively support colleagues with other client work during key reporting periods.
