Great opportunity to work as a CNC Machinist for a leading manufacturer of glazed and pre-hung internal door sets, providing to door specialists, builders' merchants, and independent door shops across the UK. Staffline is currently looking for a CNC Machinist to join the team in Ely. This is a temp-to-perm position, with the opportunity to move to a permanent contract after 12 weeks. Due to the location of the site in Ely, candidates must have access to their own vehicle or reliable transport to travel to and from the workplace. The rate of pay is £15.00 per hour. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday. Candidates must be flexible and able to work either of the following shifts when required: The hours of work are: - 7:30am - 16:00pm or 5:00am - 13:30pm.
Your Time at Work
In this role, you will program, set, and operate CNC machines efficiently and effectively resulting in outstanding quality products being produced ensuring all production requirements are completed in a timely fashion as set by the management Team to maximum efficiency and operational excellence in the delivery of all customer requirements.
Your duties and responsibilities as a CNC Machinist will include:
- Working to the specifications outlined in production paperwork and processes.
- Programming, setting, and operating CNC machines.
- Operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines for wood machining (minimum 2-3 years' experience required).
- Programming/operating knowledge of Xilog Plus and X-Door would be a significant advantage.
- Ensuring all production paperwork is completed fully, accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Checking all product components are correct before and during machining operations.
- Carrying out QC checks and ensuring products meet specifications throughout the run.
- Taking ownership of preparing replacement materials (cutting, sanding, priming, etc.), including frame components, whole frames, and doors, as required.
- Ensuring the sawdust extraction system is maintained and that dust bags are changed when required.
- Clearly marking passable materials or machining errors to make relevant teams aware for further processing.
- Preparing and sorting materials prior to machining.
- Reporting any delays to the team leader as soon as they occur.
- Maximising machine uptime throughout the shift.
- Minimising machine set-up times.
- Keeping the working area clean, tidy, and safe.
- Always adhering to company processes and procedures.
- Following all Health & Safety procedures and alerting a team leader if any issues are identified.
Our Perfect Worker Skills and Experience
- Skilled in the programming and operation of Morbidelli and Alfa CNC machines.
- Experience working with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machinery in a woodworking or manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in the manufacture of timber door sets is desirable.
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations relating to training, production performance, KPI improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
- Experience receiving deliveries of goods and materials when required.
- A forklift licence would be advantageous.
- Able to follow the company reporting structure and communicate effectively with team leaders and colleagues.
- Willingness to carry out all reasonable instructions as directed by your team leader.
