About the Role
We are opening a Waiting List recruiting a Groundskeeper to join our team for Council facilities. This role is ideal for individuals with the ability to work to their own initiative. You will be required to carry out a wide range of general maintenance and horticultural duties at various locations throughout the area, to include Golf Courses, Public parks, Cemeteries, sports facilities, playing fields, landscaped areas and open spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping duties of Open Spaces in accordance with Council Guidelines and standards, including the supervision of other staff as appropriate to scale, including deputising for the Chargehand as required and as directed. Answering Customer enquiries and delivery of information as required opening /closing times, directions etc.
- Safe, effective and appropriate use and daily maintenance (inspection, fuel, oil, fault reporting) of grounds maintenance equipment and machinery in line with Council Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Mobile grass cutting operations. Soil cultivation, fertilizing, site preparation and construction labouring. Horticultural operations such as the planting of trees, shrubs perennials, annuals and bulbs as directed.
- Driving large agricultural tractors and articulated vehicles van and trailer, as and when required
- Hedge-cutting and trimming operations, clearing leaves and litter. Simple pruning to trees, shrubs and perennials and the handling and application of chemical sprays as directed.
- Maintaining all records relevant to the post and undertaking of all duties in accordance with all Council Health and Safety Policies and Procedures including Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, PPE, CoSHH etc., and participation in all relevant Training programmes.

- Previous experience in Horticulture, groundskeeping and gardening roles is preferable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
