Overview: Our client, a leading company in the Control, Protection, and Automation industry, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Director to help drive the next phase of their growth. This role is crucial to expanding their engineering capabilities, developing new products and services, and leading a highly skilled team. You will play a key role in shaping the future of the business and supporting their ambitious growth strategy over the next five years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the growth of the business in line with the company's five-year financial plan.
  • Build and manage a new Engineering Team with the skills necessary to support the company's growth, particularly in emerging sectors such as IEC61850 Projects and the Design and Build of Large Transmission Projects.
  • Represent the company at key industry meetings, including BEAMA.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to promote business expansion in Transmission, Renewable, and Industrial sectors, as well as exploring new geographical markets.
  • Promote synergy between operations in different regions (e.g., India and the UK), identifying opportunities to leverage joint capabilities.
  • Travel regularly (2-3 days per week) to visit customers, factories, and attend key industry events, with occasional international travel (once every 2-3 months).

Key Result Areas:

  • Successfully recruit and establish an Engineering Team capable of managing projects in key growth areas.
  • Expand the company's technical capabilities and introduce new products/services in emerging markets.
  • Drive new business through customer qualification, product approvals, and entry into new sectors and geographies.
  • Actively promote the company's offerings at conferences and exhibitions, representing the brand at a Group Level.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of specialized training offerings in protection and power systems.

Key Tasks:

  • Engage with Transmission Utilities, Academia, and other industry players to stay ahead of emerging technologies and create growth strategies.
  • Support the Business Development Manager in technical sales and promoting the company's engineering services to OEMs, EPCs, and end-users in sectors like utilities, renewable energy, and railways.
  • Lead the development and execution of a multi-year product development plan, collaborating with Engineering and Development teams.
  • Foster collaboration between UK and India teams, leveraging the strengths of both regions to drive cost-effective solutions and maintain high engineering standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers, promoting the joint interests of the business in key markets.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSc in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 15-20 years of experience in the Control, Protection, and Automation industry, with a strong understanding of the technical landscape.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role, managing teams of 10-15 people.
  • Experience in leading growth initiatives and managing large, complex engineering projects.
