Permanent job opportunity for a Farm Assistant. Do you enjoy working indoors and outdoors? Are you flexible to work 5 days out of 7? Are you able to work overtime when required? We are looking for a farm assistant; the role will involve supporting the farm management teams.
Experience is advantageous; however, training can be provided. Working hours are from 7.30am to 3.30pm. Please note flexibility is required due to the nature of the business.
In your role as a mobile farm assistant, you will be involved in:
- Labouring and some physical work
- Cleaning out sheds and farm areas
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, ensuring that the farm is kept clean and tidy, and all roadways are free of litter and weeds
- Grass cutting
- Reducing the risk of vermin contamination
- Poultry welfare
- Maintaining correct and up-to-date records of all matters relating to birds, food, supplies, etc.
- Assisting other operations such as vaccinating, bird weighing, catching, and collection, thus maintaining a smooth operation through processing
- Monitoring ventilation, heating, feed, water, and lighting patterns within agreed guidelines to achieve the highest quality atmosphere and conditions for the birds
- Safe use of chemicals
- Learning and operating all equipment and machinery
- All other associated tasks
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a similar environment
- A food hygiene certificate
- A willingness to learn and gain a full understanding of poultry
- Responsibility and effective communication skills
- A basic understanding and working knowledge of the operation of all equipment on the farm
- A full UK driving licence and own transport (advantageous due to location)
Rate of pay is Β£13.12 per hour with a 1.5 overtime rate.
