Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant

The new academic year is underway, but there are still great opportunities available! Stafflex Education is registering experienced Secondary SEND Teaching Assistants for a variety of exciting roles across secondary schools and academies in Kirklees and Calderdale, with placements starting from November 2025.

We work closely with supportive schools seeking committed and skilled teaching assistants for both long-term roles and flexible cover assignments.

About the Role

As a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils one-to-one or in small groups, often working with students with additional needs such as autism (ASD), ADHD, or SEMH.
  • Assist in delivering lesson content and encouraging positive behaviour.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and SENDCOs to meet students\\\’ individual learning and emotional needs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Recent experience supporting secondary-aged pupils, especially those with SEND or SEMH needs
  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in education, childcare, or learning support
  • Strong behaviour management skills with a calm and empathetic approach
  • Full and detailed CV covering the last 10 years (including explanations for any gaps)
  • Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service or willingness to apply
  • Two professional references (plus overseas police checks if applicable)
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to attend a face-to-face registration interview
