We're looking for a talented Chef Manager to take ownership of a busy college operation, combining hands-on culinary expertise with strong kitchen management, team leadership, menu development, food safety, and cost control skills.

This is an excellent permanent opportunity for an experienced Chef Manager, Catering Manager or Kitchen Manager looking for an interesting career within the education and contract catering sector.

A balanced 35-hour work week, spread over 5 days out of 7.

Responsibilities in your new role as Chef Manager As the Chef Manager, you will be pivotal in elevating the college's catering service.

Key responsibilities include:
Consulting with customers to develop and implement service improvements.

Preparing and cooking high-quality meals, and directing catering staff in food production.

Ensuring robust financial control through effective recipe management, monthly stock takes, diligent purchasing from nominated suppliers, and accurate invoice coding.

Leveraging systems data for strong daily financial management, waste reduction, and cost control, including overseeing cash handling security.

Managing all aspects of staff, from recruitment, induction, training, and development, to weekly time sheets, wage analysis, return-to-work interviews, and annual PDPs.

Ensuring strict adherence to food hygiene, health & safety, and COSHH legislative requirements.

Maintaining impeccable cleanliness of all kitchen and serving areas.

Representing the catering department in meetings and undertaking other duties appropriate to this significant post.

Your personality, experience and qualifications You will be a qualified Chef with robust managerial skills and demonstrable experience in a catering environment within the hospitality industry.

You will also bring: A high level of adaptability, comfortable covering unsociable hours including weekends, split shifts, early mornings, and late evenings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong organisational and interpersonal abilities
Strong computer skills and familiarity with modern software packages
Required Qualifications & Certifications: Minimum qualification of City & Guilds 706 (1 & 2) or SVQ equivalent
HND or equivalent in Hospitality
Essential basic and intermediate food hygiene certifications
