The job

Support the day-to-day running of a prestigious 5-star kitchen by leading the team, maintaining exceptional food quality and hygiene standards, and helping deliver an outstanding dining experience for every guest.

An experienced Sous Chef with a background in luxury hospitality, strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to producing fantastic foos and developing a kitchen team.

Responsibilities in your new role as Sous Chef

As our Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in the kitchen's smooth operation and culinary excellence.

In the Head Chef's absence, you will be fully aware of and effectively communicate daily business needs to the kitchen team.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen operation
  • Communicate daily business needs effectively to the kitchen team
  • Attend daily briefings and refer to operational sheets, diaries, rosters, and notice boards
  • Assist the Head Chef in leading, motivating, and developing the kitchen team
  • Ensure consistently high standards of food quality, service, and professionalism
  • Maintain full compliance with food hygiene and health & safety regulations, including HACCP and COSHH
  • Uphold all distillery-related due diligence and operational controls
  • Help maintain a consistently high-end, 5-star culinary experience
  • Ensure excellent cleanliness and organisation across all kitchen and back-of-house areas
  • Your personality, experience and qualifications

To thrive in this role, you will be an experienced Sous Chef with a proven track record within the hospitality sector, having successfully worked in a 5-star establishment.

You will bring

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef within the hospitality sector
  • Proven background working within a 5-star or luxury hospitality environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and train kitchen teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead by example
  • Experience delivering consistently high standards of culinary excellence
  • Previous menu planning experience using locally sourced and seasonal produce
  • Knowledge of stock control and budget management
  • Relevant food hygiene certifications
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the business
  • Experience managing rotas and staffing requirements is beneficial
